As well as providing an insightful analysis of a household’s energy use and how this compares to other E.ON customers in their local area, the online tool provides hints and tips to help people use no more energy that they need:

•    Festive lights can add charm and a decorative atmosphere to your home, but they also increase your electricity bill. If you're considering buying new festive lights, cut your energy use by buying light-emitting diode (LED) lights instead of standard traditional bulbs

•    Water heating accounts for a quarter of your home's total energy use. Lowering the temperature on your water cylinder to 60°C could reduce your water heating costs by 18%

•    It’s lovely to sit in front of an open fire during winter but they can be a major source of energy loss. Buy a chimney balloon to help prevent cold air from entering and warm air from escaping
